Tutorial Posted

Ok...I have posted my tutorial or Rhonda' way on how to grubby up a candle...Thanks all and have a blessed wonderful evening...Love to all...

End of January

Welcome Friends, thanks so much for stopping by! And, thank you Lord for another beautiful day that you have given to me. Well, it's Monday and here in the coalfields it's a gray morning, but, hey I'm certainly not complaining. We have, as most of you, had too much snow...hopefully, the storm this week will bring only rain. My driveway and walks are finally clear of ice and snow so I think I am going to run some errands. But, I've still got a lot of things to do this morning before going out.  I've been a little under the weather for a couple of days since everyone in the family has had the cold and stomach virus so you can just imagine what my house must look like. Oh, yeah., it's a mess!  After I get the cleaning part out of the way, I really need to give the "Dukester" a bath. Boy, does he get upset, I'm thankful he's so small or else I would have to have help with bath time. This little doggy really gets mean. How many others have this problem with their furbabies?
Got a lot of projects on my 2-do-list...don't really know where to start first. I keep getting such good ideas from the gals at The Primitive Pantry that I will never get done..but, I'm loving being a part of their world.  Don't you think it's such a blessing to be a part of the Internet communities? What did we do before Internet? It's such a great tool, so many valuable resources available and so many giving, caring people who will share their lives and ideas. I, for one, am grateful for everyone that I have been blessed to meet.
Later today I will be posting a tutorial...how I make my grubby candles. Hope you will drop back by and take a look. This will be my first tutorial ever!! Nothing fancy, just a simple, quick project..I'm an impatient girlie who likes to see results fast. I'm always trying to find quicker ways and shortcuts to making "prim" projects for my home. Hope to see you later!!!
Have a safe and blessed day. Until later!!

Primitive Bees

Just a little project I completed yesterday...pattern is from Tennessee Ridge. Awesome patterns!! Hope you like!!!:)

Any suggestions as to where these little bees should live?????

How I grubby my candles

After Christmas I really stocked up on candles. I think I paid 63 cents for these candles...I usually wipe my candles off with alcohol before I paint them. This helps remove some of that waxy feel.

I let the candle dry. Then I paint the candle with black acrylic craft paint. I usually do two coats of paint.

Once the black paint is dried I dry brush some burnt umber acrylic paint over the entire candle. You may have to practice some to get the kind of look you want. This gives the candle a brownish/black look.

Once the candle is painted and dry I brush the entire candle with Mod-Podge. While it is still wet I sprinkle the entire candle with cinnamon...I keep my candle over a aluminum pan while doing both the Mod-Podge and the cinnamon..This gets messy :)

This is how the candle will look once the cinnamon is sprinkled on.

I usually let mine set for about an hour to dry. Once the mixture is dry I just take my hands and rub lightly over the candle. This removes some of the cinnamon and allows the color to show through. You can also use a small paint brush and just brush the cinnamon off.

I just wrapped/tied a piece of cheesecloth around this one..

And there you have it...My version of a simple grubbied/grungy candle...Fun, cheap and simple to do!!

Oh, these are only for decorations...I don't burn mine!!!

Wasn't that easy!! My motto...".I'll paint anything if it's not moving."

Welcome

Welcome to my first blog...yay!!! Just want to introduce myself, I'm Rhonda, I have been happily married to my husband, Lanny, for almost 33 years. We have 4 grown children who have blessed us with 8 beautiful grandbabies. We also have a furbaby, his name is Duke and he is a Chiweenie. You will probably be hearing a lot about him.
I live in southern West Virginia, yep.."the coal fields" about an hour from the Kentucky border. I guess we are famous for the "Hatfield and McCoy Feud" of years past. Now we are getting better known for our awesome trails. If anyone likes to four-wheel, then this is the place for you! Our mountains are beautiful in every season. A big part of the year our town is full of 4-wheelers. People come from all over the United States to ride our trails.
I would like to say a special "thank you" to the gals from The Primitive Pantry. They encouraged me to start a blog..who said you couldn't teach an old dog new tricks?  They have an awesome site and the girls there are awesome...if you want to meet some wonderful ladies and get great ideas and help, then please give them a visit. I promise..you will feel right at home.
I have started this blog to make new friends and to show you some of the crafty things that I am into. I will try to post pics of what I'm working on and who knows, maybe a tutorial or two. Also, I enjoy reading blogs and meeting and making new friends. So I hope we can do that here!
Since this is my first blog any advise is more than welcome.
So, welcome to my little corner of the world.
Have a blessed wonderful day.
